House Bill 3270 Filed to Strengthen Oversight of Missouri Detention Centers

Jefferson City, Mo. (KFMO) - State Representative Jeremy Dean of Springfield has filed House Bill 3270 to strengthen transparency, visitation access, and oversight at detention centers across Missouri.

The legislation would establish consistent statewide standards for visitation and oversight at all detention facilities. It also addresses a gap in current law by setting visitation provisions for county and municipal jails, which are not currently governed by specific state statute. The proposal expands authorized access for approved visitors and oversight entities while maintaining the safe and orderly operation of facilities. It creates a clear statutory framework for how detention centers operate, regardless of location or management.

House Bill 3270 has been filed and will be considered during the current legislative session.
