Missouri Launches Redesigned Buddy Check 22 Day Webpage to Support Military Community

Jefferson City, Mo. (KFMO) - The Missouri Governor’s Challenge to Prevent Suicide among Service Members, Veterans, and their Families has unveiled a redesigned Missouri Buddy Check 22 Day webpage aimed at strengthening suicide prevention efforts across the state.

Buddy Check 22 Day, established by state law in 2020, designates the 22nd of each month to raise awareness of suicide risks among military personnel and encourage Missourians to check in on veterans and service members. Governor Mike Kehoe said supporting current and former service members remains a top priority, noting that “even a simple call or message can save a life.” The updated webpage features short videos explaining how Missourians can conduct a Buddy Check, connect someone to care, practice self-care, identify stress levels, and learn more about suicide prevention. It also includes a message from the governor on the purpose of Buddy Check 22.

The Missouri Governor’s Challenge team is a nonpartisan group of state agencies, health organizations, veteran groups, and community partners working together to implement best practices for suicide prevention among service members, veterans, and their families.
