Missouri Launches Show-Me Shield Suspicious Activity Reporting Site

Jefferson City, Mo. (KFMO) - Missouri officials have launched a new online system for reporting suspicious activity, while also announcing changes to the state's school violence and anti-bullying reporting program.

The Missouri Department of Public Safety and Missouri State Highway Patrol have launched Show-Me Shield, a new website where the public can report suspicious activity in Missouri. Show-Me Shield replaces the Missouri SafeNation app and is now available online at ShowMeShield.mo.gov.

The site is based on the national "See Something, Say Something" initiative and is designed to give Missourians a way to report unusual items, situations or behaviors that may warrant law enforcement attention.

Examples include individuals attempting to obtain information beyond simple curiosity about a building's purpose, operations, security procedures or personnel, including questions about shift changes and other security-related details.

Officials stress that suspicious activity may have an innocent explanation. The circumstances and context surrounding a report are important, and law enforcement will determine whether the reported behavior warrants additional investigation.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol also announced that the state's Courage2Report school violence and anti-bullying reporting program has moved to a new online access point. Courage2Report tips can now be submitted through Courage2ReportMO.com, or by calling 1-866-748-7047. Tips continue to be handled 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, by trained professionals.

The Courage2Report and SafeNation apps have been deactivated and are no longer being monitored.

The Missouri School Violence Hotline began in October 2001. In 2019, the reporting system was moved to the Missouri Information Analysis Center as part of the Missouri School Safety Initiative, providing 24/7 operation under the name Courage2Report. The program is designed to help schools and law enforcement learn about potential school violence before it occurs.

Courage2Report works with public and private schools throughout Missouri serving students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade.

All reports submitted through the Courage2Report platform are confidential.
