Missouri Supreme Court Ruling Could Restrict Abortion Access Again

Jefferson City, Mo. (KFMO) - The Missouri Supreme Court has reopened the possibility of abortion access being restricted in the state, despite voters overturning the state’s abortion ban last November.

On Tuesday, the state’s highest court ruled that a lower court used the wrong legal standard in its decision to block laws that could limit abortion services. Loyola Law Professor Laurie Levenson says the decision contradicts the will of Missouri voters.

The ruling means that laws previously blocked, ones that may restrict the operation of abortion providers, could now take effect, pending further legal battles.
