Madison Co., Mo. (KFMO) - The Missouri Department of Transportation is partnering with the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials to test a High Friction Thin Overlay (HFTO) on four U.S. Route 67 bridges in Madison and Wayne Counties.
The overlay is designed to extend pavement life and improve skid resistance on both concrete and asphalt surfaces. Weather permitting, prep work will take place Wednesday, Sept. 10 and Thursday, Sept. 11, with the overlay applied Tuesday, Sept. 16 and Wednesday, Sept. 17. During the project, U.S. 67 will be reduced to one lane near each work zone, reopening as sections are completed. MoDOT will monitor the test areas for three years, with results shared nationwide.
The work is funded by the product manufacturer.
