Nightly Closure Planned for U.S. 61/67 in Crystal City Beginning July 27

Jefferson Co., Mo. (KFMO) - Motorists traveling through Crystal City should prepare for overnight road closures as the Missouri Department of Transportation continues work on the Interstate 55 Corridor Upgrades project.

Beginning Monday, July 27, MoDOT will fully close U.S. 61/67 just south of Sunridge Trail from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. each night. The closure will remain in effect nightly through Wednesday, July 29, allowing crews to install drainage infrastructure.

During the closure, drivers should follow the posted detour by using Route A to northbound Interstate 55 and then McNutt Street to travel around the work zone.

Electronic message boards will be placed along the route to alert motorists of the upcoming closure and guide traffic through the detour.

The drainage work is part of the larger Interstate 55 Corridor Upgrades and the U.S. 61/U.S. 67 Two-Way Left Turn Lane Construction Project in Jefferson County.

MoDOT reminds motorists that all construction activities are weather-dependent and schedules may change if conditions warrant. Drivers are encouraged to slow down in work zones, follow posted signs, and allow extra travel time during overnight construction.
