NWS Confirms EF-1 Tornado Touched Down in Terre Du Lac Friday Night

Terre Du Lac, Mo. (KFMO) - The National Weather Service has completed its storm survey and confirmed that an EF-1 tornado touched down in Terre Du Lac at approximately 9:35 p.m. Friday, July 31.

Survey crews determined the tornado reached maximum estimated winds of 96 miles per hour. The tornado remained on the ground for approximately 0.08 miles and had a maximum width of 100 yards.

According to the survey, the tornado developed along Stoney Point Road and briefly tracked southeastward. Along its short path, it caused sporadic tree damage and minor structural damage before dissipating over Lac Capri.

Despite the damage, no injuries or fatalities were reported.

The tornado was rated EF-1 on the Enhanced Fujita Scale, which includes tornadoes with estimated wind speeds between 86 and 110 miles per hour.

Residents are encouraged to continue reporting storm damage following severe weather events, as those reports help the National Weather Service complete accurate storm surveys.
