Park Hills, Mo. (KFMO) - The City of Park Hills issued a Boil Water Advisory following an 8-inch water main break.
The advisory affects an area beginning near Haney Park and the Flat River, continuing down Juniper Street to Lewis Street, along Lewis Street to North St. Joe Drive, and then north to Parkway Drive.
The advisory also includes all of Ray Lee Drive and all areas located within those boundaries.
The City says the precautionary advisory was issued because the loss of water pressure caused by the water main break could potentially allow contaminants to enter the water system.
What residents should do
Residents and businesses within the affected area should use bottled water or bring tap water to a full rolling boil for at least one minute, then allow it to cool before using it for:
- Drinking
- Cooking or preparing food
- Brushing teeth
- Making ice
- Preparing baby formula
- Giving water to pets
Residents should continue following the advisory until the City announces that it has been lifted.
City crews working on repairs
As of 10 a.m. Sunday, city crews continue to work to repair the 8-inch water main break and restore normal water service as quickly as possible.
The City is also asking residents who are experiencing low water pressure or discolored water to notify the City by commenting with the name of their street on the city's Facebook post. That information will help officials identify any additional areas that could be affected.
The advisory is a precautionary measure and will remain in effect until water testing confirms that the water is safe.
The City of Park Hills is asking residents to continue monitoring the City's official Facebook page for additional updates and notification when the advisory is lifted.
