Park Hills, Mo. (KFMO) - The Parkland is under a slight risk for severe weather on Saturday as a cold front moves through the region.
Forecasters say while widespread, beneficial rain remains the most likely outcome, there’s been a slight increase in the potential for strong to severe thunderstorms. The front is expected to produce steady rainfall throughout the day, but a slower-moving system could allow for more instability to build, especially if there’s less rain and more sunshine during the morning and midday hours. That would raise the risk of a few storms becoming severe later in the day.
If severe weather occurs, the most likely timing will be during the afternoon and evening. The best chances for stronger storms remain across the Ozarks and into southwest Illinois, but portions of the Parkland could also experience damaging winds, hail, or even an isolated tornado.
Confidence in specific storm hazards remains low, and widespread rain is still the most probable scenario. However, with the Parkland under a slight risk category from the Storm Prediction Center, residents are encouraged to stay weather-aware throughout the day Saturday and monitor forecasts for updates.
