Possible 3rd Award for St. Francois County

(St. Francois County, MO.) St. Francois County could receive an award from the Missouri Association of Counties for the 3rd year in a row.  The county is up for the award after convincing officials with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources to allow rock to be used to replace contaminated soil from the remediation of the old county barn property on Maple Street in Farmington. Regulations required new soil, not rock. That's when St. Francois County officials convinced leaders with the DNR rock would be a more flexible, money saving solution. The requirement was changed and that move saved St. Francois County tax payers a little over a half million dollars. Associate St. Francois County Commissioner, Patrick Mullins, says it's been a while since a county has had the opportunity to win the award three times in a row.

It's not yet known if the county has won the award, but county officials should find out in a few weeks.
