Scopus Solar Awards $10,000 in Grants to Support Bollinger County Organizations

Bollinger Co., Mo. (KFMO) - Scopus Solar has contributed a total of $10,000 in community grants during the first quarter of 2026, benefiting five organizations serving Bollinger County.

Funding was awarded to the Bollinger County Health Center, Bollinger County Recycling Center, BoCo Neighbors, the Bollinger County Chamber of Commerce, and East Missouri Action Agency. The grants will support a wide range of services, including public health initiatives, environmental sustainability, food access, and emergency assistance programs.

Juanita Welker, Administrator of the Bollinger County Health Center, says the funding will help expand outreach efforts and connect more residents with important health resources.

Meanwhile, the Bollinger County Recycling Center plans to use the funds to replace a key piece of equipment used in daily operations. The center has already diverted more than 300 tons of materials from landfills since opening.

BoCo Neighbors will direct its portion of the funding to assist residents facing financial hardship, helping cover utility bills and housing costs for families at risk.

The Bollinger County Chamber of Commerce will use its grant to enhance its Community Gardens initiative, including expanding crop offerings and improving access to fresh, locally grown food.

East Missouri Action Agency says its funding will support immediate needs such as food access, transportation, and emergency housing assistance for residents experiencing financial instability.

Scopus Solar, a project being developed by Vesper Energy, will combine 200 megawatts of solar generation with 200 megawatts of battery storage, enough to power approximately 35,000 Missouri homes. The project is also expected to generate millions of dollars in local tax revenue to support schools, infrastructure, and community services.

Officials say the project team will continue working with community stakeholders and is now accepting applications for future grant cycles.
