Severe Weather Possible Friday Night Across the Parkland

Park Hills, Mo. (KFMO) - The Parkland region is facing a slight risk of severe weather Friday evening into overnight hours, according to meteorologists. Thunderstorms are expected to develop along a cold front in western Missouri and move eastward.

While the strongest storms are expected west of the area, there remains a chance for damaging wind gusts, nickel-size hail, and weak EF0 to EF1 tornadoes within the Parkland. The timing and intensity of the storms are uncertain, as the lack of daytime heat may weaken them as they move east.

Meteorologists say the highest risk for severe weather will be across central and northeast Missouri. There is also a small chance that isolated storms could develop earlier in the evening separate from the main line, though these are less predictable.

Residents are urged to stay weather-aware and keep safety plans ready. Ensure your emergency kit is accessible, review your evacuation plan, and have multiple ways to receive weather warnings overnight.
