Silica Mine Public Meeting Tonight

(Ste. Genevieve, MO) Nexgen Silica is hosting an informal public meeting to discuss a new mine site in St. Genevieve county tonight in Ste. Genevieve. The Missouri Department of Natural Resources received a permit application from Nexgen Silica for a proposed 249 acre sandstone mine site that would be located along U.S. Highway 32, approximately a half mile from Hawn State Park. The mine plan covers property owned by six different landowners, all of whom have given signed consent. The department, Missouri Department of Conservation and Division of Economic Development will attend the public meeting to help answer questions area residents may have concerning the mine and its impact on the environment. The meeting takes place at 7 o'clock tonight at the Ste. Genevieve Sports Complex gym at 1300 Progress Drive.
