Southbound I-55 to Close Overnight Friday for Bridge Construction

Jefferson Co., Mo. (KFMO) - Drivers who travel southbound on Interstate 55 between Route M and Route Z should prepare for an overnight closure this Friday due to bridge construction.

Weather permitting, crews will close all lanes of southbound I-55 on Friday, February 27, from 11 p.m. until 5 a.m. The closure is necessary so crews can pour concrete for a new bridge over the BNSF railroad.

A signed detour will be in place during the closure. Drivers will exit I-55 at Route M (Exit 185) and turn left. They will then turn right onto U.S. Route 61/67 and continue to Route Z. At Route Z, motorists will turn right and then use the ramp on the left side of Route Z to re-enter southbound I-55.

Motorists are encouraged to allow extra travel time and use caution in the work zone.
