St. Francois Co., Mo. (KFMO) - Enrollment is currently underway for the St. Francois County Senior Real Estate Tax Relief Program, giving qualifying seniors the opportunity to apply for property tax relief.
Applications must be completed in person at the St. Francois County Collector’s Office, located at 1 West Liberty Street, Suite 201 on the second floor of the courthouse in Farmington. Enrollment began Monday, March 2, 2026, and will continue through Friday, May 29, 2026.
Officials say seniors may enroll Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the collector’s office. The office will be closed for enrollment on April 3 for Good Friday, May 8 for Truman’s Birthday, and May 25 for Memorial Day.
Applicants must bring a government-issued photo ID such as a driver’s license. If the property is held in a trust, the trust agreement must be presented. If the property is owned by a limited liability company, the LLC operating agreement must also be provided.
County officials recommend that both spouses listed on the property deed attend the enrollment appointment if possible. The process does not require a scheduled appointment. However, officials warn that crowds are expected, particularly during the early weeks of enrollment. Seniors who wish to avoid long lines are encouraged to consider applying later in the enrollment period.
When residents arrive at the collector’s office, they will be greeted and issued a number along with a short application to complete. When their number is called, applicants will present their identification and any required documentation before signing an affidavit declaring the address of their homestead.
The program is designed to help eligible senior residents receive relief from rising property taxes on their primary residence.
For more information about the program, residents can contact the St. Francois County Collector’s Office at 573-756-2645.
