Bonne Terre, Mo. (KFMO) - The Terre Du Lac Volunteer Fire Department in Bonne Terre is one of three Missouri departments awarded a $10,000 grant through the Good Neighbor Firefighter Safety Program, a nationwide initiative by State Farm and the National Volunteer Fire Council.
The funding will help the department purchase critical equipment such as personal protective gear, EMS tools, and updated communication devices. Many small-town and rural fire departments, including Terre Du Lac, operate on tight budgets, making outside support essential for maintaining readiness and safety. Terre Du Lac joins the Martinsburg Area Fire Protection District and the Seneca Fire Department as Missouri recipients.
In total, the program awarded $1.5 million to 150 volunteer fire departments across the country, aiming to strengthen emergency response in rural and underserved communities. State Farm and the National Volunteer Fire Council launched the initiative to highlight and support the vital role volunteer firefighters play in protecting their communities.
