St. Francois Co., Mo. (KFMO) - The St. Francois County Sheriff's Department says two brothers are now in custody following a violent assault investigation that left a Bismarck man seriously injured.
According to investigators, deputies were dispatched to the Cedar Lake Development during the early morning hours of May 11, 2026 after receiving reports of a fight involving two men assaulting a lone victim.
When deputies arrived, they located a 53-year-old man from Bismarck near the entrance of the development suffering from major injuries. Due to the severity of those injuries, the victim was airlifted to a St. Louis-area hospital for treatment.
Detectives immediately launched an investigation involving interviews, evidence collection, and follow-up investigative work. Authorities identified brothers Clinton and Cody Clark, both of Cedar Lake, as suspects in the case.
On May 12, Clinton Clark was arrested at his residence without incident. Authorities later obtained warrants for both Clinton and Cody Clark on charges of First Degree Assault. Bond for each suspect was set at $500,000.
On May 19, investigators, assisted by members of Operation Relentless Pursuit, located Cody Clark at a convenience store in Jefferson County. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the St. Francois County Detention Center.
Authorities say the victim remains hospitalized but is continuing to improve as the investigation remains ongoing.
