Washington County Man Charged After Pregnant Woman Shot During Alleged Domestic Violence Incident

Washington Co., Mo. (KFMO) - A Washington County man is facing multiple felony charges after authorities say he shot his pregnant girlfriend during an alleged domestic violence incident.

According to the Washington County Sheriff's Office, deputies and detectives responded to a local hospital on Thursday, July 2, 2026, after receiving a report of a victim suffering from a gunshot wound.

During the investigation, authorities determined the shooting stemmed from a domestic violence incident involving the victim and her boyfriend, identified as Nicholas Geary.

Investigators say the victim told deputies that Geary had threatened to shoot her in the days leading up to the incident. According to the Sheriff's Office, those threats included statements that he would shoot her in the stomach because she was pregnant.

Authorities allege that on the day of the shooting, Geary struck the victim in the stomach before shooting her in the back.

The Sheriff's Office says Geary also called 911, claiming he had shot the woman in self-defense and reported that he had discarded the firearm in a wooded area.

Following the investigation, deputies arrested Geary. He has been charged with first-degree domestic assault, first-degree attempted murder, unlawful use of a weapon, and armed criminal action.

Geary is currently being held at the Washington County Jail on a no-bond warrant. The investigation remains ongoing.
