Bill Addresses Drunk Driver and Orphans

(Jefferson City, MO) A measure introduced by the State Representative of the 117th District, Mike Henderson, would address penalties for drunk drivers who are involved in fatal traffic accidents that leave children orphaned. Henderson says the bill is called Bentley and Mason's law.

According to Henderson the average penalty for someone convicted of a drunk driving accident, that results in killing a person, is 6 to 9 months in prison. Henderson adds this measure requires drunk drivers, who are convicted of killing a parent and orphaning a child, to pay child support to surviving minor children until they are 18 years of age.
