Jefferson Co., Mo. (KFMO) - Two separate criminal investigations in Jefferson County have resulted in multiple felony charges against two Missouri men, including allegations involving an armed burglary and the possession of a homemade explosive device.
On May 27, 2026, Tony K. Stewart of High Ridge was charged with First-Degree Burglary and Unlawful Use of a Weapon. According to investigators, Stewart allegedly forced his way into an apartment and pointed a firearm at the victim during the incident.
Authorities later tracked Stewart down and took him into custody without incident. He is currently being held at the Jefferson County Jail on a $50,000 surety bond. He was released on May 30.
In a separate case stemming from a traffic stop on May 24, Brian E. Taylor of St. Louis was charged with two counts of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession, Transport, Manufacture, Repair or Sale of an Illegal Weapon involving an explosive device, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Failure to Register a Motor Vehicle.
According to authorities, Taylor was stopped after deputies observed that the license plates on the vehicle he was driving were expired and registered to a different vehicle. During the investigation, deputies allegedly discovered firearms, a homemade pipe bomb, and a glass smoking device containing white residue, burn marks, and a clear liquid.
Investigators say Taylor is a convicted felon and also had outstanding warrants at the time of the traffic stop. He was taken into custody at the scene and is being held in the Jefferson County Jail without bond.
Because of the discovery of the suspected explosive device, the St. Louis Regional Bomb and Arson Unit and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) were called to assist with the investigation.
Both cases remain pending in Jefferson County courts.
