Bonne Terre Man Dies in Accident

(Jefferson County, MO) A man from Bonne Terre, 61 year old Robert H. Davidson, is dead after he was killed in a traffic accident in Jefferson County Tuesday morning, just after 10 o'clock. According to Highway Patrol reports Davidson was riding in a Jeep, driven by 68 year old George G. Leachman, of Bonne Terre, north on Highway 67, at Route CC. A van, driven by 45 year old John C. Dawson, of Farmington, had stopped at a flashing red light and when he began to drive through the intersection, Leachman failed to stop and crashed into Dawson's van. Both vehicles rolled over upon impact and Davidson, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown out of the Jeep. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Dawson was transported to Mercy Hospital Jefferson and Leachman was transported to Mercy Hospital South at St. Louis for treatment of moderate injuries. Dawson and Leachman were wearing their set belts when the wreck occurred.
