Potosi, Mo. (KFMO) - Potosi city officials are providing residents with an update on several infrastructure, equipment and grant-funded projects underway throughout the community.
The city says road paving is wrapping up, with officials expecting the work to be largely completed before school starts. Officials said the Mine Street Bridge project has been completed, with additional paving scheduled for August. The city is waiting on final billing before officially closing out the project.
The city says its Water Improvements Project is complete, with crews finishing final walkthrough items before the project is closed out. Work on Wastewater Treatment Facility Number Two improvements is continuing as expected. The city says payments and requisitions related to the project are continuing to be processed.
Design work for the Senior Center project is being finalized. City officials say grant-related items are being prioritized while they wait for additional budget information to determine whether additional funding may be available.
The city is also working on its cybersecurity grant. Officials say they are developing a cybersecurity response plan and establishing procedures to properly document purchases so the city can receive reimbursement for eligible expenses.
The Police Department vehicle grant is complete, with reimbursement already received.
Potosi currently has bids out for several pieces of city equipment, including a track skid steer, a zero-turn mower and a track mower.
At the city park, tennis court renovations are expected to begin around the middle of August. The city says new basketball goals have been delivered, along with a new foot bath and solar lighting.
Officials say the city will continue looking for grant opportunities that can bring outside funding into Potosi and help offset the cost of infrastructure and other improvements.
The city acknowledged that projects can sometimes take longer than expected because of the work involved with grant applications, engineering, bidding, approvals and required paperwork.
Officials thanked residents for their patience and support as projects continue.
The city is also reminding residents that school begins next week.
Drivers are encouraged to watch for school buses, student drivers and children walking to and from school. Officials are asking motorists to slow down in school zones, pay attention at crosswalks and allow additional time as traffic patterns adjust to the new school year.
