Commission Approves Jail Health Program

(Farmington, MO) A new health program is coming to the St. Francois County Jail after Tuesday's St. Francois County Commission meeting. Commissioners approved a health plan proposal from Advance Correctional Health Care and the Presiding Commissioner for St. Francois County, Harold Gallaher, says it will cost less for the programs to keep inmates healthy and manage jail health care.

The county was budgeting nearly $86,000 for the jail program yet with the new contract the county will pay a little over $73,000 and medical liability will shift to Advance Correctional Health Care. In other business at today's St. Francois County Commission meeting two janitors in the maintenance department were given the new job title of Building Technicians and they were given a raise of an additional $1.25 an hour. The two positions have become more skill based with new technologies thus the new title and pay scale.
