Deer Causes Wreck in Washington County

(Washington County, MO.) Nine people are recovering from various injuries after they were involved in a two vehicle wreck in Washington County Sunday evening at 6:30. Highway Patrol reports indicate an S.U.V. was being driven north on HIghway 21 at Franklin road by 39 year old Misty L. Dunn of Potosi, when a deer ran out into the road. Dunn's vehicle struck the deer and began to spin on the highway crashing into another S.U.V.  being driven south by 38 year old Scott R. Gillam also of Potosi. Both vehicles ran off the right side of the road. Dunn and Gillam received minor injuries while several passengers were injured. In Dunn's vehicle an eight year old female was moderately injured. A nine year old female in Gillam's vehicle was moderately injured while a second received minor injuries. A 10 year old female and a sixteen year old male in Gillam's vehicle received minor injuries. 18 year old Alexis Brooks of Belgrade was riding in Gillam's vehicle and she received moderate injuries. 36 year old Tabitha A Gillam from Potosi, also a passenger in the Gillam vehicle, was seriously injured. All the injured were taken to Washington County Memorial Hospital at Potosi. Both vehicles were totaled in the wreck. Everyone was wearing a seat belt except Dunn when the wreck took place.
