Department Requests for Rescue Act Funding

(Farmington, MO) Several county departments are making requests for special funding from the American Rescue Plan Act to deal with COVID129 related issues and some of those requests were made at Tuesday's St. Francois County Commission meeting. The Presiding Commissioner for St. Francois County, Harold Gallaher, says the county must evaluate those requests first, including one for nearly a million dollars for the St. Francois County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.

According to Gallaher the funds are available for 2 and a half years and, they must be spent correctly. If a future audit were to discover improper distribution of the money the county would have to repay the money in question. In other business at Tuesday's St. FRancois County Commission meeting the work of clean up after last week's rains was discussed. About 5 inches of rain fell in just a couple of hours causing road and bridge problems that had to be addressed throughout the weekend.
