Extreme Heat Watch Issued Sunday Through Tuesday

St. Francois Co., Mo. (KFMO) - After a cooler week, temperatures will heat back up over the weekend with a dangerous heat wave and an extreme heat watch in the forecast Sunday morning through Tuesday evening.

According to the National Weather Service - St. Louis, portions of south central, southwest, and west central Illinois and central, east central, northeast, and southeast Missouri will experience dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 110 degrees possible.

Sunday is expected to register a high temperature of 97 degrees, Monday may reach 101 degrees, and Tuesday 99 degrees.

Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors.
