General Mills To Close St. Charles Plant, 163 Jobs To Be Eliminated

St. Charles, Mo. (KFMO)  - General Mills will permanently shut down its manufacturing plant in St. Charles this summer, resulting in the loss of 163 jobs.

According to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification, or WARN notice, filed with the Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development on April 2, the layoffs are expected to occur on or about June 8, or within two weeks of that date.

The closure affects the General Mills Operations LLC facility located at 3850 Millstone Parkway in St. Charles. The plant has been used to manufacture pizza crust products.

The filing provides the formal details required under federal law for large-scale layoffs and confirms the shutdown will be permanent.

General Mills had previously disclosed plans to shut down the facility, but the WARN notice outlines the expected timeline and impact on employees.

According to the filing, workers affected by the closure will not have the right to transfer to other company facilities or displace other employees within the company.

The closure marks a significant workforce reduction in the St. Charles area as employees prepare for the plant’s operations to come to an end this summer.
