Jefferson Co., Mo. (KFMO) - Motorists traveling through southern Jefferson County should plan ahead this week as the Missouri Department of Transportation schedules overnight closures on U.S. Route 67 near Interstate 55 for a pavement resurfacing project.
According to MoDOT, crews will be milling and resurfacing sections of Route 67 near the I-55 interchange. The work is weather dependent and will require temporary nighttime road closures.
Northbound Closure Schedule
Northbound U.S. Route 67 will be closed beginning at 9 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9, and again on Thursday, June 11. The roadway is scheduled to reopen by 5 a.m. the following mornings, with all work expected to be completed by Friday morning, June 12.
During the northbound closure:
Northbound Route 67 traffic will be detoured onto southbound Interstate 55 and directed to Exit 170. Drivers will then travel south on U.S. 61 before reconnecting with northbound I-55.
Southbound I-55 traffic attempting to access northbound Route 67 will be directed to Route A at Exit 175, then east on Route A to the U.S. 67/61 corridor.
Southbound Closure Schedule
Southbound U.S. Route 67 will be closed beginning at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, and again on Friday, June 12. The roadway is scheduled to reopen by 5 a.m. each morning.
During the southbound closure:
Southbound Route 67 traffic will be detoured onto northbound I-55 to Route A at Exit 175. Drivers will then use Route A to access southbound I-55 and continue toward southbound Route 67.
Northbound I-55 traffic wishing to travel south on Route 67 will also use the Route A detour to access southbound I-55 before reaching Route 67.
MoDOT officials say all detour routes will be clearly marked with signs. Drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time, reduce speed in work zones, and remain alert for workers and equipment throughout the project area.
