Missouri Speaker of House Chosen

(Jefferson City, MO) Missouri State Representative, Johnathan Patterson, is the new Speaker of the House for the Missouri Legislature. The State Representative of the 116th District Dale Wright, says representatives chose Patterson Tuesday, a day before this year's veto session.

Patterson, a Republican from Jackson County, was chosen by a vote of his caucus colleagues in the House Tuesday. Dr. Patterson represents District 30, which includes parts of Jackson County. He was elected to his first two year term in November of 2018, and currently serves as Majority Floor Leader. He will continue in that role until the 2025 legislative session. As members of the Missouri General Assembly return to Jefferson City today for the 2023 veto session it's unlikely any veto will be successfully overridden. It's expected line item vetoes will take up a significant part of the discussion.
