St. Louis, Mo. (KFMO) - Wednesday's Missouri Statewide Tornado Drill has been cancelled and will not be rescheduled due to the potential for severe weather during the scheduled 11 a.m. timeframe.
Officials with the National Weather Service say the decision was made because severe thunderstorms cannot be ruled out during the hour the drill was set to take place. With the high visibility of the statewide drill and the scheduled Routine Weekly Test of NOAA Weather Radio, there were concerns that proceeding could create unnecessary confusion if actual severe weather were to develop.
The Routine Weekly Test of NOAA Weather Radio has also been postponed until the next day with good weather conditions.
Organizations that had planned to participate in the drill are encouraged to conduct their severe weather practice at a time that works best for them.
