Next Steps for Leadington

(Leadington, MO.)

Officials in Leadington say they are in the process of restoring city government after the recent resignation of seven city officials. KFMO B104 News spoke with Leadington Alderman, Gary McKinney, who says their first step will be to hire a City Clerk and once that's done, accept the resignation of Alderman, Misty Dean. Next McKinney says the city board would appoint another board member. The process requires acting Mayor Pro Tem Debbie Mathews to appoint a resident to the Board of Aldermen to replace Dean. Current board members would then vote on whether or not to accept the recommended appointee. Mathews also has the choice of remaining Mayor until the next municipal election.

McKinney adds remaining board members have voted to operate under last year's budget since a new budget hadn't been written yet by ex Mayor, Dustin Winick. McKinney explains they are committed to looking into the financial strength of the city and get the right people in place to help manage and operate the city as efficiently as possible. KFMO B104 News will keep you up to date on the developing situation with Leadington.
