2 Officers Shot, 1 Killed, Suspect Dead

A candlelight vigil for fallen Bonne Terre Police Officer, Lane Burns, will be held Sunday at 5 PM at the North County High School football field. Everyone is invited to come out and show your support for Officer Burns and the Bonne Terre Police Department.

Missouri Highway Patrol investigators says the officer who was killed this morning was 30 year old Lane Burns, who had been with the department 5 years. The critically injured officer is 28 year old Garrett Worley. Worley has been on the force for 7 years. The suspect who was shot and killed at the scene was 21 year old James J. Emery of St. Louis. A Bonne Terre Police Officer is dead and another injured following a disturbance call at an area hotel. Corporal Dallas Thompson of the Missouri Highway Patrol explains what happened when officers arrived.

Corporal Thompson says they are trying to determine who the suspect was, and if he was known to law enforcement. 

Thompson says the names of those involved have not yet been officially released by Highway Patrol investigators, pending notification of the families. 

Thompson note that the scene is still very active.
