Park Hills Rail Line Reactivated, Bringing New Economic Opportunities

Park Hills, Mo. (KFMO) - The City of Park Hills is alerting residents that the rail line running through the community will soon be active again.

City officials say the reactivation comes through a partnership with Capital Railroad and Union Pacific, following coordinated work to restore operations along the key transportation corridor. Residents can expect to see between five and ten railcars per week, with activity taking place only on Wednesdays, though not every Wednesday. The rail cars will move to Capital Railroad’s spur for loading before being shipped out.

City leaders acknowledge that renewed rail activity may raise concerns for those who live or travel near the tracks, but they emphasize that the reactivation marks a positive step for the region. The return of rail service is expected to support economic growth, boost industrial activity, and encourage continued investment in Park Hills.

Officials are urging the public to use caution around rail crossings, especially on days when rail operations are underway.
