St. Francois County Sheriff Anticipates Increased Jail Population in Summer

St. Francois Co., Mo. (KFMO) - St. Francois County Sheriff Jeff Crites anticipates that the county jail will fill close to capacity over the next few months.

The current inmate population at the St. Francois County jail sits at 140, with 120 males and 20 females. Crites says he believes that number will go up over the summer, as people go out and have increased contact with law enforcement.

Crites also reported the addition of two new K-9s to the county commission -- Onyx, a 2-year-old German Shepard, and Defender, a 4-year-old Belgian Malinois.
