Former Missouri Attorney General Bailey to Become Sole FBI Deputy Director

Washington, D.C. (KFMO) - Former Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey is set to become the FBI’s sole deputy director as current co-deputy director Dan Bongino plans to resign next month.

The FBI deputy director serves as the bureau’s second-in-command, reporting directly to FBI Director Kash Patel. With Bongino’s departure, Bailey will assume expanded responsibilities and play a central role in overseeing the FBI’s daily operations and decision-making. Bailey was appointed Missouri attorney general in 2022 and resigned from that position on Sept. 8 to take on a leadership role within the FBI.

Bongino announced his planned resignation Wednesday.
