Park Hills, Mo. (KFMO) - Gas prices are increasing across the country, and drivers in Missouri are feeling the impact.
According to the AAA Motor Club, the national average for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline jumped 11-cents from Monday into Tuesday. This brings the national average to $3.11 per gallon, marking the highest level in more than a year.
AAA spokesperson Aixa Diaz notes that the recent surge is linked to escalating conflicts in the Middle East, and she warns that this may be just the beginning of higher fuel costs.
Missouri’s statewide average currently stands at $2.79 per gallon. In the St. Francois County area, several stations raised prices to $2.99 per gallon Tuesday evening. Drivers are advised to monitor local prices and plan accordingly, as the situation may continue to affect fuel costs in the weeks ahead.
