Park Hills, Mo. (KFMO) - Drivers across the Parkland are seeing a noticeable jump in fuel prices this week, with some stations in St. Francois County reaching $3.99 per gallon for regular unleaded on Wednesday.
According to AAA, the national average for a gallon of regular gas stood at $4.164 on April 8, while the Missouri average came in at $3.618. AAA’s Missouri fuel tracker also shows county prices across the state ranging from roughly $3.267 to $3.968, placing St. Francois County among the higher-priced areas as local stations approach the $4 mark.
The local increase reflects a broader trend being felt statewide and nationwide as prices continue to rise. Missouri’s average is still below the national average, but drivers in the Parkland are now paying significantly more than they were just a few weeks ago.
AAA’s recent fuel reports show Missouri gas prices have climbed steadily over the past week, mirroring the national pattern of increasing costs. On April 3, Missouri’s average was $3.521, compared to $3.618 by April 8, showing a sharp rise in just five days.
For local motorists, the biggest takeaway is simple: filling up is getting more expensive, and stations around St. Francois County are now nearing the psychological $4 per gallon threshold.
