19-Year-Old Desloge Man Dies in Drowning on St. Francis River

Wayne Co., Mo. (KFMO) - A 19-year-old Desloge man has died following a drowning Saturday afternoon on the St. Francis River in Wayne County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the incident happened at approximately 4:50 p.m. Saturday, August 8, at Sam A. Baker Campground, located about four miles north of Patterson.

According to the incident report, the man was swimming when he began to struggle and panic. He then submerged and did not resurface.

The swimmer was pronounced dead at the scene.

The report lists no safety device being used.
