2023 New Year's Traffic Statistics

(Jefferson City, MO) Missouri State Highway Patrol officials say five people died and 59 were injured in 115 traffic crashes during the 2024 New Year’s holiday counting period, which began at 6 p.m. Friday, December 29, 2023, and ended at 11:59 p.m. Monday, January 1, 2024. There were also no boating crashes and no drownings over the weekend. There were 59 injuries in this year's crashes and 139 DWI arrests. One traffic fatality occurred in Troop C, 1 in Troop D, and 1 Troop G. The Columbia Missouri Police Department and the Kansas City Missouri Police Department each worked one fatality crash as well. During the 2023 New Year’s holiday counting period, six people were killed and 345 injured in 925 traffic crashes statewide. Troopers arrested 105 people for driving while intoxicated last year.
