Jefferson Co., Mo. (KFMO) - A Hillsboro man is facing several felony charges after investigators say a domestic argument ended with a woman being shot in Jefferson County.
Jefferson County Sheriff Dave Marshak says 65-year-old Frank Forshee has been charged with Domestic Assault in the First Degree, Armed Criminal Action, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm following the incident.
According to investigators, deputies responded to a home in the 6900 block of Klondike Road in Hillsboro on May 3, 2026 after reports of a shooting during a domestic dispute. Authorities say Forshee and the female victim were arguing when the victim’s dog began barking. Investigators allege Forshee became upset when the dog would not stop barking, threatened the woman with a knife, and then retrieved a firearm and fired a single shot, striking her.
The woman was able to escape the residence and was transported to a hospital for treatment. Authorities say she was later released.
Following the shooting, investigators say Forshee fled the home and hid in a nearby wooded area. Deputies, detectives, and members of the Jefferson County SWAT team spent several hours searching for him.
Officials say detectives eventually made contact with Forshee by cellphone, developed rapport with him, and persuaded him to surrender peacefully. He was taken into custody on May 4 without incident.
After his arrest, Forshee was transported to an area hospital for a medical procedure unrelated to the investigation. He was later booked into the Jefferson County Jail on May 7, where he remains held without bond.
