Probable Cause Statement Details Alleged Threats That Prompted Potosi R-3 Soft Lockdown

Washington Co., Mo. (KFMO) - Additional details have been released in the case involving a Mineral Point man accused of making threatening statements toward the Potosi R-3 School District, prompting a soft lockdown and heightened concern throughout the community.

According to a probable cause statement filed by Officer Kenneth Duing-Davis, authorities allege Buddy Joe Wills knowingly caused emotional distress to the Potosi R-3 School District through a Facebook post and a voicemail message left for the district.

Investigators say the Facebook post contained threatening and profanity-laced language directed toward schools and school officials. Court documents state the defendant allegedly referenced “cleaning” schools and warned that schools would be “fixed” and “redone.”

"You better have a spring cleaning at your little elementary schools and every school that carries anything that's got sexual explicit I will f****** you stupid mother you have got s*** off way too long all of you School f**** I'm f****** tired of you I don't like you I don't like none of you y'all are beneath me as far as I'm concerned I don't even care you know that you sons of b****** are the problem in this world you know who you are I promise you this in schools will be fixed and they'll be cleaned and they will be worst by the blood of the lamb and we will redo the whole thing you will not ever do that to my child or anyone that I love".

Authorities also allege Wills left a voicemail message for the school district around 12:29 p.m. on May 6th. According to the probable cause statement, the caller warned school officials to “start cleaning that school up” and stated, “you better get it right before we come in there.”

"You guys better start cleaning that school up if there's anything in that school that is not right you better get it right before we come in there. We the real people were done playing your games your done were done with all that. We will close these schools down and we will keep our kids home, that's what we will do, all of us in a whole watch you better repent from your sins you cant wear two faces around me so be prepared I am use to fake people".

The probable cause statement says the combination of the Facebook post and voicemail message caused the Potosi School District to implement a soft lockdown, resulting in emotional distress among staff and students, along with concern and panic throughout the community.

Investigators further stated in court documents that Wills poses a potential danger to the community and may not appear on a summons.

Court records also indicate Wills has prior felony convictions in Missouri, including charges involving controlled substances, theft, burglary, and peace disturbance.

Wills is charged with Making a Terrorist Threat - 2nd Degree, Harassment - 1st Degree, and Peace Disturbance.

He remains held at the Washington County Jail on a $100,000 cash-only bond.
