Mineral Point Man Charged After Threatening Call and Facebook Posts Involving Potosi R-3 Schools

Washington Co., Mo. (KFMO) - A Mineral Point man is facing several charges after authorities say a concerning phone call and social media activity involving the Potosi R-3 School District led to an investigation and heightened safety measures at school campuses.

According to the Potosi Police Department, Buddy Wills of Mineral Point was arrested following an investigation into a voicemail message left on a Potosi R-3 School District phone line, along with Facebook posts that reportedly alarmed school administrators.

Officials say the school district immediately implemented safety precautions at all campuses after receiving the message.

Law enforcement determined further investigation was necessary and worked to locate Wills. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the case and arrested Wills without incident.

Authorities say a probable cause statement was submitted to the Washington County Prosecuting Attorney, leading to formal charges being filed.

Wills is charged with Making a Terrorist Threat - 2nd Degree, Harassment - 1st Degree, and Peace Disturbance.

According to police, Wills is currently being held at the Washington County Jail on a $100,000 cash-only bond.
