7-Year-Old Dies in ATV Crash on Private Road Near Fredericktown

Madison Co., Mo. (KFMO) - A tragic ATV crash in Madison County has claimed the life of a young child.

Authorities say the incident happened Sunday morning on a private road roughly 10 miles west of Fredericktown.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 10:10 a.m. when a 2019 Polaris RZR170 EFI left the roadway, traveled down an embankment, and entered a private lake.

Officials say the driver, a 7-year-old girl from Barnhart, Missouri, was wearing a safety device at the time of the crash.

She was transported by ambulance to Madison Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead.

No other injuries were reported.
