St. Francois Co., Mo. (KFMO) - Absentee voting is officially underway across Missouri for the August 4, 2026 Primary Election, giving eligible voters an opportunity to cast their ballots ahead of Election Day.
St. Francois County Clerk Kevin Engler says absentee voting is an easy process and encourages residents who qualify to take advantage of the option.
The upcoming election will be the second held under St. Francois County's new voting center model. Engler noted that turnout during the April election varied significantly between locations. While the county's Election Center saw heavy voter traffic, turnout at the First State Community Center in Farmington was considerably lower.
Because of the additional space available at the First State Community Center, Engler is encouraging voters to utilize that location when casting their ballots.
In addition to local races and party nominations, voters will also be asked to consider four statewide ballot measures. County Auditor Louie Seiberlich says it is important for residents to educate themselves on each issue before heading to the polls.
He says Amendment 5 is particularly important for voters to review and understand.
To help voters learn more about the ballot measures, St. Francois County has made information available through the "Fair Ballot" language section of the county government website. Sample ballots are also available online so voters can review the issues and candidates before Election Day.
The August 4 Primary Election will determine party nominees for several offices and give voters the opportunity to weigh in on statewide constitutional amendments and propositions.
