AM 1240 KFMO Celebrates 79 Years Serving the Parkland

Park Hills, Mo. (KFMO) - AM 1240 KFMO marked its 79th anniversary on Saturday, August 1, celebrating nearly eight decades of broadcasting in the Parkland.

Since first signing on the air in 1947 by Oscar Hirsch, KFMO has been a part of the community, providing local coverage of breaking news, severe weather, high school sports, community events, and stories impacting residents across the region.

Over the years, KFMO has continued to evolve with changing technology and the way listeners consume information, while maintaining its commitment to local broadcasting. Today, AM 1240 KFMO remains focused on being a trusted source of information for listeners throughout the Parkland, featuring local news coverage, talk programming, weather updates, and community-focused content.

The station’s 79-year history represents generations of broadcasters, staff members, advertisers, community leaders, and listeners who have helped make KFMO a lasting part of the region.

As KFMO looks toward its 80th year, Odle Media Group and the staff at KFMO continues its mission of being the Parkland’s local radio voice.
