Park Hills, Mo. (KFMO) - Amazon has officially closed on property near the Fairgrounds exit along Highway 67 in Park Hills, marking the beginning of a major economic development project expected to bring new jobs and faster package delivery to the Parkland.
Park Hills City Administrator Zach Franklin says the project represents an exciting opportunity for both the city and St. Francois County.
Construction activity has already been underway for several weeks. Franklin says the investment is about much more than a single building, adding that it will help attract additional commercial development to the surrounding area.
The facility will serve as an Amazon last-mile distribution center, where products arriving from larger regional distribution hubs will be sorted and delivered directly to customers within approximately a 40-mile radius.
Plans call for a warehouse of roughly 70,000 square feet. The operation is expected to employ between 80 and 100 workers and represents an estimated capital investment of $30 million to $40 million in Park Hills and St. Francois County.
According to Amazon, the new facility will allow customers throughout the region to receive orders more quickly by shortening the final leg of the delivery process.
If construction remains on schedule, the distribution center is expected to begin operations during the second quarter of 2027.
