Arcadia Valley Early Learning Center Construction Continues

Ironton, Mo. (KFMO) - Construction is continuing on the Arcadia Valley Early Learning Center and storm shelter following voter approval of Proposition SAFE Kids in April 2025, a no-tax rate increase bond issue designed to improve facilities for the district’s youngest learners.

The new building will include two preschool classrooms along with a large student learning and play area, providing a more modern and dedicated space for early childhood education.

Originally, the project was intended to replace an aging preschool trailer. However, that need became more urgent after a fire in January destroyed the trailer, displacing preschool students. Since then, those students have been attending classes in the elementary school library.

In addition to expanded classroom space, the facility will also serve as a storm shelter for elementary students and staff, offering a safer environment during severe weather events.

District officials say the new Early Learning Center is expected to be ready in time for the 2026-27 school year, when it will welcome its first group of Preschool and Early Childhood Special Education students.
