Arrest Made in Iron County Burglary and Theft Investigation

Iron Co., Mo. (KFMO) - An arrest has been made following a burglary and theft investigation in Middlebrook.

Deputies with the Iron County Sheriff’s Office responded around 5:24 p.m. on February 17 to the intersection of Highway 21 and Highway N after a reported theft. The investigation began when a witness observed a man walking along the roadway carrying a battery believed to have been stolen from a local farm.

The individual, identified as Roy Lewis, admitted to taking the battery and a second battery from a nearby property.

Further investigation revealed Lewis had entered a building on the property and removed a battery and an alternator, telling deputies he planned to sell the items at a local scrapyard for cash. All stolen property was recovered at the scene and seized as evidence. Lewis was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Iron County Jail. After being advised of his Miranda rights, he provided a statement admitting to the theft.

The property owner reported approximately $800 in damage to the building.

Lewis has been charged with Burglary in the Second Degree, a Class D felony; Property Damage in the First Degree, a Class E felony; and Stealing, a Class A misdemeanor. He is currently being held without bond.
