Bismarck, Mo. (KFMO) - The Bismarck Fire Protection District has upgraded its firefighting capabilities with the purchase of a 1997 Pierce Dash Pumper Tanker after selling its previous 1991 Ford Tanker.
District officials say the replacement was completed with no debt to the district.
The newly acquired truck is equipped with a 1,250 gallon-per-minute pump and carries 2,000 gallons of water. It also includes a six-man cab, allowing firefighters to bring additional personnel and equipment directly to emergency scenes.
Officials say the truck’s front mount intake system will improve drafting operations on narrow rural roads and at boat ramps by allowing single-lane access during water supply operations.
With the addition of the Pierce Dash Pumper Tanker, the district now operates three Pierce custom cab trucks. Fire officials say having matching truck platforms and manufacturers helps improve mobility while streamlining maintenance, training, and operations across the department.
The district says the new apparatus strengthens firefighting response capabilities while maintaining financial responsibility for taxpayers.
