Park Hills, Mo. (KFMO) - Bitterly cold air is expected to settle into the Parkland heading into the weekend, bringing dangerous wind chills and below-normal temperatures.
Colder conditions will continue through the remainder of the week, with a renewed push of Arctic air arriving behind a cold front on Friday. That system is expected to bring the coldest temperatures of the stretch, along with widespread wind chill values well below zero from Friday night through Sunday morning. Forecasters say wind chills across the Parkland could fall to between -10 and -15 degrees Friday night and Saturday morning. Sunday morning will remain cold, with wind chills ranging from zero to -5 degrees. High temperatures on Friday are expected to reach the lower 20s, while Saturday’s highs may struggle to reach 20 degrees.
A slight rebound is expected Sunday, with highs climbing into the lower 30s. Overnight lows will dip into the lower single digits, with temperatures moderating to the mid-teens by Sunday night.
In addition to the cold, a slight chance of snow is possible across the Parkland late Thursday night into early Friday. Any snowfall is expected to be light, with a dusting up to around one inch at most.
Residents are encouraged to take precautions during the cold snap, including limiting time outdoors, dressing in layers, and ensuring pets and vulnerable populations are protected from the extreme cold.
